Hostels can be fun places to sleep not only thanks to the unique atmosphere that you can find there.
Hands up all of you that choose their stay in the hostel not based on the prize but the unique idea of the hostel. I mean…have you ever considered sleeping in the prison? Why not?!
The truth is, that many hostels have their own individual beauty and character which make them one of a kind. That is why it is so hard to decide which is more unique than the other one.
So on this list, I gather the properties that were either converted from the places, which you might not consider as a place for the hostel…but well, are hostels now. Or hostels which ideas, are so beautiful that it’s just impossible not wanting to sleep in there.
Here is the list of the few of the wonderful hostels that might be a good idea for a different type of sleeping experience!
A real treat for a bookworm. The connection of a good book with a comfortable bed can create really sweet dreams. That is a completely different hostel experience.
2. Anywhere Destination Nomad Hostel in Portugal
Probably the first nomad hostel in the world. If you are looking for a truly unique experience this one should be on your list.
You don’t need to be a criminal in order to sleep in prison…thanks to this hostel. Well, I guess the atmosphere and conditions are better than in regular prison.
Each cell was renovated by a different artist!
I’m sure that there are many people out there (including me) that always wanted to sleep in the treehouse. That hostel can be a real dream come true.
Imagine sleeping in a cave, waking up and having a breath-taking view in front of your eyes… That’s more than enough to put this place on the list of unique hostels.

7. The Train Lodge, Amsterdam
It is not big news that there are trains with beds, so it is possible to sleep in a comfortable way during your travel. However have you ever stayed in a train that is actually totally converted into a hostel?
Originally these carriages used to travel between Zurich and Rome. Now they are a colourful hostel in Amsterdam.
8. Lucky Lake, Amsterdam
30 minutes from the Amsterdam city centre, in the Dutch countryside, you will find this unique hostel. Caravans, cabins and dorms painted in pastel colours, will just blow your mind and will get you a positive mood.
And all this surrounded by nature.
