Every year numerous events focused on the travel and hospitality industry are happening. If you are a hostel owner or manager you might be interested in finding out that there are conferences designed for hostels. They focus on the solutions, problems and news, concerning this part of the hospitality industry in particular.

After various hostel conferences, I have participated in (and I even spoke on one of them!) I can’t recommend you enough to try it out by yourself.

New knowledge

The main idea of the events like conferences is to share knowledge within the industry. So it is obvious you get the possibility of learning new skills and getting fresh news and solutions.

Behind the scene, this is what conference is all about- getting to know new peers from your field, exchange of contacts and starting new partnerships.

To be honest I think ‘networking’ is just another, professional name for making new friends from the hostel community.

Finding new opportunities for your business

Isn’t it obvious? You get to learn, expand your knowledge and find new ideas for the development of your property.

Conferences can be a perfect excuse to get away from daily, office work for a short period. After all, you are going to ‘work’, right? Just that, this time remotely.

Since hostel conferences and travel events usually take place in different cities and locations around the world you have opportunities to discover new destinations.

Informal parties

Yes, you read good – parties. That’s one of the reasons to go to conferences too. Welcoming meetings and closing parties are always an opportunity for interesting discussions in a relaxed atmosphere over the beer (well, what kind of hostel event would it be if it wouldn’t include at least a little bit of alcohol?).

And if hostels are about being social than for sure conferences are a reflection of this.

If you’ve heard about any other hostel event, please let me know in the comments below.
